Why South Lee Prep?
The Prep School at South Lee spans six year groups: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. Our aim is to inspire children to be independent learners and high achievers, fostering a love of learning that lasts beyond their time with us. With deliberately small class sizes, teachers are able to tailor lessons to meet the needs of each pupil, ensuring that all activities offer the right level of challenge to promote steady progress.
We carefully monitor and assess each child’s development across all areas of the curriculum, ensuring that they experience a well-rounded education and achieve the best possible outcomes. Students are taught in either one or two classes, depending on the size of the year group, with no more than 18 children per class. Larger classes are supported by teaching assistants to ensure individual needs are met.
We make full use of our subject specialists across the Prep School, who bring expertise to key areas of learning. Children benefit from our dedicated facilities, including Art and Science rooms, Design Technology workshops, Drama and Music rooms, and our school hall for performances and productions.
Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning and to develop an understanding of their individual learning styles. We promote a growth mindset, where challenges are viewed as valuable opportunities for development, and provide plenty of support to help pupils embrace new challenges.
In Year 8, all students receive tailored support to prepare for their transition to Senior School, and we are proud to see a number of our students achieve scholarships each year to a variety of senior schools in and around Suffolk and beyond.
